Bought a VW Taigun in November 2025, and literally on the second day, I got a big dent on the right side driver's door while taking it out of a parking spot. At the time, I decided not to repair it immediately. My plan was to wait until a few more minor scratches accumulate and then get everything fixed in one go under a single insurance claim. About 3 months later, I took the car to a VW service centre for a minor service. I still didn't get the dent repaired then, but the service centre would have a record of the car's condition at that time, including the existing dent and scratches. Now, 5+ months after the incident, I want to get it repaired at a VW authorized service centre under insurance. My questions: Is it still possible to file an insurance claim for damage that happened 5 months ago? Will the delay in claiming cause any issues with the insurer? Will the service centre records from the minor service help or hurt my case? Any advice from people who've dealt with own-damage insurance claims would be really helpful!
