Open to suggestions about my project idea

I'm exploring a tool to solve a personal pain point that has bothered me for years. I really want to read regularly but i constantly fail at it. Most of the time my brain is just too scattered. i sit down with a book and my focus is completely gone within five minutes.

So, I started thinking about an idea for an app to actually build the reading habit. Instead of just logging pages, it would use behavioral hooks. I'm picturing a hyper-focus mode with built-in lo-fi audio, a strict reading timer, and some low-pressure accountability. Maybe even a cute little virtual pet that grows as you read just to keep the momentum going.

I want to validate if this is a real problem for others before I write any code. Do you struggle to keep a consistent reading habit? would a tool specifically designed to force focus and routine actually help, or do you just rely on raw discipline?

Also, I need help figuring out what I can add as a feature. Any suggestions (or critic) would help, so write smt please.

Feeling guilty about my reading habit

Hello everyone, I am really struggling with my goal this year (aiming for 26 books) and honestly feeling a bit lost. i really want to be the kind of person who reads constantly, but every time i sit down with a book my brain just freezes or thinks about social media. I read like ten minutes before i get distracted from my phone or just lose focus completely. it feels so hard to actually build a consistent habit.

I see people here hitting huge numbers and i just wonder what i'm doing wrong. it feels like my attention span is just broken. is anyone else dealing with this kind of constant distraction? how do you guys actually block out the noise to focus, and how do you get back on track when you fall behind on your number goal?

Feeling guilty about my reading habit

i really want to be someone who reads regularly. i buy books and set goals, but i always end up failing. it usually goes the same,, i read for a few days, feel super productive, and then completely fall off the wagon.

when i actually force myself to sit down with a book, my focus is entirely shot. my brain just wants to pick up my phone. i try putting on background music or setting a timer but it feels forced and i lose motivation fast. it is honestly getting kind of embarrassing. i just look at my stack of unread books and feel guilty every night. does anyone else get stuck in this exact cycle with reading? if you used to be like this but actually managed to make it a sticky habit, what finally worked for your focus?
