100-400mm is great, so long as you have contrast for focus
Boy does this len hunt for focus when it's a low-contrast scene. Frustratingly so, with loads of missed shots of birds in flight, as the lens searches for something to grip onto. But in good light, with good contrast and a definitive subject/relatively controlled area to work within / latch onto, it works very well.
The stabilisation is utterly incredible - 400mm rock steady. It's mighty impressive. I would love to have better focus latching for faster moving stuff (birds, planes, superman) but this is the first time I've been impressed with the lens, shooting these birds.
All taken with an X-T4 on CH15fps - 1/2000 | f/6.4-8 | ISO1600 all at 400mm
