Curse of wilderness
Why is the curse of wilderness place?
It's been said that it punishes those that have abandoned the gods but what does that entail.
In khaenri'ah it made those that weren't pure blooded khaenri'ah that left the city turned into hilichurls, but why would just entering the city and then leaving make one abandon the gods.
Hyperborea abandoned the gods and yet they didn't turn into hilichurls, they even attacked HP.
What if it's related to the abyss? We know that HP is afraid of the abyss and would do anything to get rid of it, so what if the requirements to abandon the gods be to be affected by the abyss.
Hilichurls are associated with the abyss, as seen in the Natlan abyss invasion.
Khaenri'ah is probably located in a place like the dark sea, a place where the gods gaze can't see, so the curse didn't affect those in the city. Khaenri'ah used the abyss as an energy source for everything so being in the city would affect everyone. Although I don't know why it doesn't affect the pure blooded khaenri'ah, maybe it has something to do with the Voyager as the boy she possessed had star-pupil, the same as every khaenri'ah we met.
Hyperborea is located in Snezhnaya so it wouldn't avoid the gods gaze, the moons even took care of them, so the curse probably didn't exist before the war of funerary flame.
The curse of immortality and wilderness seem to have the same function, to prevent those affected to enter the leylines, it makes them immortal and at the end they would eventually fade away as their memories are eroded away.
Irminsul absorbs the memories of the dead and eventually recycles them, so if the memories are gone and then when they die nothing is absorbed by Irminsul.
As seen in sumeru if Irminsul would be affected by the abyss it would cause the withering and the illness of Eleazar.
