Serious quality dowfall in S8

I greatly anticipated Oultander’s eighth season. I actually rewatched the whole show in November so all the plot was still fresh in my mind when the 8th season was broadcasted.

But when I watched the first episode, I felt something was off. Was it the plot, the acting, the way it was filmed ? I did not catch it at the time. My boyfriend said that he thought it had always been filmed this way, that nothing was different and that maybe it was my taste that had changed.

But as weeks passed, It definitively felt like it has been “Netflixised”. The photography is too neat, too dull, too beautiful, everything is smooth and “marketingly”. Even the seventh season is better. The quality is off, I feel like I’m watching a second-hand tv show. Even the music is weirdly chosen ! I feel like Caitriona and Sam are carrying the show and yet their scenes are alike in each episode and they do not get the opportunity to show more of their acting skills.

I feel so frustrated ! I’m guessing that if the first season was to be broadcasted today, it would have had that boring and hollywoody vibe…

What are your thoughts ?
