First 30K Trail Race. Tips Appreciated.
Hello Everyone!
I've been running recreationally for over 15 years now. All of it on roads. I've finished a marathon in ~4 hours and 20 minutes and completed several 30k and 21k races as well.
I'll be running my first serious trail race in a couple of weeks. ~31.2 k with the following changes in elevation.
⛰ 31.2 km ⬆️ +1,882 m ⬇️ -1,883 m 🌄 1,386 m – 2,080 m
I've alrededy invested in a running vest, poles, and "trail" shoes, and have also been training with them to get used to pushing upwards with them.
Any tips or recommendations for a first time trail runner are greatly appreciated :). I think my biggest fear is tripping on a rock or root and injuring my ankles.
