Is a 1785 (1790 with fees) sublet for 2 months with re-lease in Chicago Lincoln Park worth it?
Hi everyone, I'm seeking advice for a situation I'm in. I'm moving out of state for a job offer with about 3 months of my lease left, but I'd be paying out may so technically breaking it 2 months early. My apartment won't let me pay to break the lease, only relet the apartment. They said if I pay them another months rent, they will do this process for me or I could search myself and pay a 150$ separation fee (but still be liable if the new tenet doesn't pay.)
I don't know if I could even find someone who would want to relet the apartment for 2 months or if they'd want to sign the new lease for 1850 after- It's a nice 1 bedroom apartment in a lovely area of Lincoln Park in Chicago but I don't know. Is subletting a good idea? What advice does anyone have for trying to find a subletter? Would anyone here be interested??? I'm trying to save myself from having to pay out the rest of my lease after being gone but I am afraid that's all I'll have to do.
Information includes:
Location: Lincoln Park/Lakeview Chicago (Around the Diversey/Fullerton area)
Price: 1785 but I pay 1790 after admin fees in the portal
Dates: Any time after May 6th (I paid out for may, but like you can live there)- July 31st with ability to resign afterwards
Special: It's near Depaul, it's a one bedroom, it's a nice place, that's about it.
