Created a board game picker app but people don’t understand it

I created the most simple app to determine which game my girlfriend and I are gonna play in the evenings. Shipping it to the AppStore I invited my friends to download it and test it out. Most of the feedback was the same.. “where are the games?” .

For me this was quite obvious , that you first have to add the games you own at home to the app in order for it to choose for you.

But as it seems , people are .. dumb? I don’t know, maybe the app needs a proper on boarding or a pre filled list with common games. Maybe something like “welcome, do you own xyz ..”

What do you guys think how I can improve this ?

My girlfriend and I take a small stack of games on every vacation — Backgammon, Playing Cards, Skyjo, that kind of thing. Last trip we had the same argument every night about what to play.

She told me to build an app. So I did.

It started as a simple game list with a random picker. Then I found the BoardGameGeek API and it kind of took over — automatic cover images, player counts, descriptions, the works. The app is called Brettspiele Bunker (German for Board Game Bunker).

Main features: - BGG-powered collection tracker - Lending tracker — never forget who borrowed your games - Bunker Roulette — random picker filtered by player count and time - Storage system for multiple locations iOS + Android. One-time €2.50, no subscription.

Current user base: mostly my family. But they're actually paying so I'll take it 😄 Happy to answer questions about the build!

PS: Yes , we actually use it almost every night in order to pick a random game :P
