First time playing is Expert a bad idea?
Been on a retro/ROM kick and this game kept coming up.
I went through the in-game difficulty questions (IVs, team-specific leveling, etc.) and got slotted into Expert. None of it sounded too crazy at the time, but I know you can't raise the difficulty back up after lowering it, so I want to understand what I'm signing up for before I commit.
- Fine with: dying, building the right team for a fight, min-maxing, thinking about type matchups
- Not fine with: having to rebreed a new team for every gym leader because everything is impossible with perfect ivs. I don't mind doing this a few times, but I want to feel like I'm playing vs running a ditto factory.
Is Expert reasonable for someone who enjoys the strategic side but doesn't want to spend hours breeding for each fight? Or does EV/IV breeding become basically mandatory? It has been fun so far, so just trying to understand what is normal.
