Hi all!

I'm moving to Stoke in a couple of weeks for work (I'm training to be a teacher in September) and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions about the best ways to make friends? I don't know anyone here so I'm a bit intimidated.

For a little background about me: I'm into sci-fi, comics, indie pop music, video games (typically cozy games or strategy games) and I've also been getting into F1 in the last year. I also like going for coffee, watching films and walking in nature. I'm bi so would love to make some LGBTQ+ friends and/or attend some local groups. Oh and I also love animals and have two amazing (excluding 5:50 AM) cats.

Hey! I’m here looking to make friends, bonus points if you’re in the Midlands as I’m moving back but to a different area so won’t know many people.

Happy to show my face privately but I don’t really want to put it on the internet as I’m moving to retrain as a teacher.

I’m getting back into comics at the moment which is fun, I’m currently reading Saga and Radiant Black. I like nerdy things in general, especially Sci-Fi like Doctor Who, Star Trek and Star Wars.

After realising I very rarely watch movies I’ve challenged myself to watching at least one film every week this year and I’m at 62 so far this year. My favourites so far are probably Project Hail Mary and We Live in Time. I think that to be great a film needs to make me laugh and cry at least once.

I love animals and have two cats who are my best friends. I like being around nature and going for walks in it to relax.

I’m more of a solo gamer and like small indie games and RPG’s like Fallout but I’d be open to playing with someone else as long as you don’t expect me to be any good at shooting anything. I usually play on Switch or my Steam Deck.

I’m trying to improve my fitness at home but know nothing about the gym (I find it quite intimidating) so any tips there would be appreciated! Swimming is one of my favourite ways to relax and I’m hoping to get back into running again at some point.
