I am extremely new to all of this (drinking in general). I was given this bottle of champagne and I would like to save it for a special occasion. I was told to keep it in the refrigerator by the person who gave it to me.

Recently I saw something on Instagram about how you should store champagne for more than a few months maybe a couple of years and now I keep seeing different answers for how long and where to store it.

I understand there are many different kinds of champagne and various ways of storing, so can someone who is knowledgeable please tell me how I should store this? I don't want it to go bad.
