"Future" Naval Warfare and Boats? Dev Diary #1

Transcript from Silk & Silver Dev Diary #1 - Design Vision

Since this topic will both be asked about and discussed, we're going to go ahead and rip off this band-aid sooner rather than later. There will be no naval warfare or naval battles in Silken Silver. We know this is a topic people care about and relate to the Republic strongly.

But between a whole lot of balancing and a whole lot of new systems that we are adding to the game with Silken Silver, we chose not to spend time and energy on trying to pack in another large feature that we would not be able to give it enough love and time to do well.

To put it lightly, even the most minimal of minimal viable product implementations of naval warfare would blow our schedule out of the water. And there are a lot of other changes in the expansion that carry a fair amount of risk which we want to make sure we can do as well as possible.

There will be trading across the water, but we will not engage in naval warfare. I know we've covered a fair amount of topics and not necessarily in great detail just yet. Moving forward, we will be alternating dev diaries for By God Alone and Silk and Silver.

So, you'll hear more from the Silk and Silver team in a couple of weeks. We hope you are as excited about this expansion as we are about bringing it to life.

Is this a hint that there could be like that in the future chapters?
