The Bobby Heenan Memorial Battle Royale
(This year’s battle royale is dedicated to one of the greatest manager’s of all time, Bobby Heenan. This final two of the match come down to Jinder Mahal & the super popular Rusev. Rusev ultimately prevails after throwing Mahal over the top. Afterwards, Rusev celebrates alongside Aiden English and Lana while leading the crowd in a massive Rusev Day chant.)
Cedric Alexander vs Mustafa Ali for the vacant Cruiserweight Championship
(The Cruiserweight Championship is vacated in January 2018 after defending champion, Enzo Amore, is released from the company. A 16 man tournament is later created on 205 Live to determine a new champion with the finals set to take place at Wrestlemania. Cedric defeats Gran Metalik, TJP, and Roderick Strong while Mustafa defeats Jack Gallagher, Buddy Murphy, and Drew Gulak. Mustafa & Cedric put on a banger with Cedric ultimately coming up on top after pinning Ali following the Lumbar Check. Ali & Alexander shake hands afterwards as Alexander celebrates his title victory.)
The Bar © vs Woken Bray Wyatt & Broken Matt Hardy for the Raw Tag Team Championships
(Sheamus & Cesaro become the benchmark for the Raw tag team division throughout 2017 & early 2018; winning the title several times. Meanwhile, Wyatt is transferred to Raw in November after losing the WWE Championship to AJ Styles. He immediately targets Matt Hardy because he recognizes something "broken" within him. Wyatt defeats Hardy in a match during the Survivor Series preshow which causes Hardy to have an emotional breakdown. The next week, Hardy interrupts a promo from Wyatt and thanks him for "making him see" and announces to the world that he is once again BROKEN! Hardy & Wyatt have several matches over the next few months which culminate in an epic Final Deletion match. It takes place at the Hardy Family Compund & in the ruins of the Wyatt Compound. Hardy wins after throwing Wyatt into the Lake of Reincarnation. Afterwards, Hardy decides to begin his expedition for tag team gold & challenges The Bar. Matt tries to get ahold of "Brother Nero" but Jeff gives Matt a call to say he can't keep enabling his "broken" behavior. Matt seems out of luck until Bray makes his return & shockingly aligns with Matt. Bray says that his exile into the Lake of Reincarnation has awoken something in him that he hasn't felt since Sister Abigail was extinguished into flames. Wyatt thanks Hardy & offers his assistance in the expedition for tag team gold. Wyatt & Hardy end up winning a #1 contendership match on an episode of Raw. Their insane antics end up being the perfect counter for The Bar with Wyatt hitting Sheamus with Sister Abigail for the win & to win the Raw Tag Team titles!)
Bobby Roode © vs Randy Orton for the United States Championship
(Bobby Roode makes his Smackdown debut after Summerslam. He quickly uses his Wall Street resources & connections to secure himself a United States Championship match that he wins. Roode keeps the title throughout the rest of 2017 & early 2018 by hook & by crook. On the Smackdown after Fastlane, Roode crosses paths with Randy Orton. Roode says his projections are leading him to surpass Randy Orton as one of the greatest champions in WWE history. He also mocks Orton because he's never won the US title. Orton says he can arrange for that to change & does so by winning a #1 Contendership match on Smackdown. Orton & Roode proceed to have a methodical match of wits that results in Orton pinning Roode after an RKO to become US Champion for the first time.)
AJ Styles © vs Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship
(Shinsuke Nakamura makes his Smackdown debut on the Smackdown after Wrestlemania 33. Nakamura goes on the achieve immediate success including a US title run and several wins over top talents; including John Cena at Summerslam. Nakamura affirms his success by winning the 2018 Royal Rumble. The reigning champion, AJ Styles, immediately comes out & confronts Nakamura. Nakamura immediately makes his choice & challenges Styles for Wrestlemania. The next few weeks are spent going over Nakamura & Styles' history in New Japan. They're also granted a match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania but lose after Styles walks out on the match. The hostility grows between the two heading into Wrestlemania. This leads to a great 30 minute match between the two. Ultimately, history from Wrestle Kingdom 10 repeats itself when Nakamura pins Styles after two Kinshasas to become the NEW WWE Champion!! Afterwards, both men show respect to each other with a fist bump.)
Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey def. Triple H & Stephanie McMahon
(After Mr. McMahon fires Triple H from being Raw GM on the Raw after Wrestlemania, he appoints Kurt Angle as his replacement. Angle is put under intense scrutiny from Stephanie McMahon during his tenure as GM. She reverses his decisions, chastises him in public, and is even revealed to be behind a smear campaign against Angle accusing him of having an illegitimate son. Angle is about to snap until Triple H makes his return and hits him with a Pedigree. Triple H and Stephanie can't go over Vince's head & fire Angle, but they do decide to make him even more miserable. Right around this time, it's announced on Twitter that Ronda Rousey will be joining WWE & sign her contract at Elimination Chamber. Angle offers to oversee it but Triple H and Stephanie refuse to allow it. However, during the signing, Angle appears to instigate a confrontation that leads to Rousey throwing HHH through a table. Stephanie slaps Rousey but runs away before Rousey can retaliate. Angle is forced to apologize for his actions on the following episode of Raw but Rousey confronts Stephanie for an apology. Stephanie berates Rousey for making demands on a show that she owns and slaps Rousey again. This time, Rousey slams Stephanie and goes for an armbar but Triple H pulls her out of harms' way. This leads into the aforementioned match being made. It's an arguable showstealer that ends when Rousey finally locks Stephanie into the armbar and makes her tap out.)
Charlotte Flair © vs Asuka for the Smackdown Womens’ Championship
(The first ever womens' Royal Rumble occurs at the 2018 event & is won by the undefeated Asuka. Asuka teases going after the Raw Womens' Championship, but makes a surprise appearance at Smackdown's Fastlane event to issue her official challenge to Smackdown Womens' Champion Charlotte Flair. Asuka explains that her decision was made because Flair is the top womens' star in the entire company and wants to prove her ability against the absolute best. Flair acknowledges that Asuka may be the toughest challenge of her entire career but promises that she, like everyone else, will bow to The Queen. As an extra reward, WWE announces that this will be the first ever womens' match to main event a Wrestlemania. Charlotte & Asuka go out & prove that they belong in the main event by putting on an absolute classic. The match ultimately ends when Asuka traps Charlotte in the Asuka Lock & makes her submit. Night One comes to a close as Asuka celebrates her win as new Womens' Champion!)
