Alternatives to AirTV devices.

I was using an AirTV Anywhere with my Sling subscription to watch antenna/local channels the last few months. I took advantage of the record, pause, reverse, fast forward features of the AirTV.

I recently cancelled my Sling subscription but continue to use Sling Freestream. I found out with usage that even though I still have access to the AirTV, most of its features stopped working with the end of my Sling service. There's the catch that I wasn't aware of. It's kind of useless to me now except for that antenna channels are integrated into the Sling channel guide.

I can still record, but only using the Sling app on my phone, then there's weirdness with where the recording actually goes, but that's the least of it.

I'm looking for an alternative to AirTV for antenna channel viewing. From what I've read, I'm not sold on Tablo. I've read good things about the Mediasonic HomeWorx and the SiliconDust HDHomeRun.

I realize these need a storage device attached and that no other device will integrate into Sling TV like the AirTV does. I just want DVR controlability for OTA channels. ideally I'd like to keep the cost of the device under $100.

Does anybody have first hand experience with the devices I mentioned or another device recommendation?

Onn 2026 4K Pro and 4K Stick only Onn streaming devices offered for the foreseeable future? Thoughts?

So the 4K Stick has been on the shelves more widely spread now throughout the US for the last couple of weeks. It's selling mostly at $39.

Aside from where it was popping up, the new 2026 4K Pro is just now also appearing in regions that were barren of it's presence or the presence of any Onn streaming device. It's mostly selling at $59.

The word online is that Walmart will be focused on selling only these two Onn streaming devices, and as such, discontinuing the $24 base model box and the 4K Plus which was priced last at $39.

Not being a huge streamer, I was in the market for a Plus or even the base model.

What's the word on the street about the possible discontinuation of the base model box and Plus?

The ongoing Onn device shortage might be coming to an end soon.

Like many, I've been looking for an Onn box for close to two months now. Specifically a *Plus. While some people, especially on the Eastern side of the U.S. have found them regularly/semi-regularly/easily/sporadically, others of us - namely in the Southwest have had a really hard time finding any way all.

Recently, the new $39 Onn 4k Stick showed up on shelves around here, but the others were still missing. I look daily on the Walmart app. I took a look this morning, and lo and behold - the NEW 2026 Onn 4k base model box with Gemini was available AS WELL AS the new Onn 4k Pro.

The new 2026 4K base model box with Gemini is priced at $39 and replaces the previous base model box which was priced at $24. Low stock as I write this and probably sold out in the next couple of hours.

The new Onn 4K Pro at $59 sold out locally by noon my time.

The good news is that they appeared at all given I've only seen the Onn 4K sticks available until they sold out a couple of days ago.

The not great news for people like me *yet is that the Onn 4K Plus is still nowhere to be seen around here... *Yet.

All of the "official" drop date rumors that floated around Reddit that never came true aside, the fact that these showed up in one of the most Onn device devoid regions of the U.S. may indicate that these products finally *might start coming to stores regularly.

I'm late to the party but have caught up pretty quick.

I'm coming from about 13 years of satellite DirecTV. It was great, until it just got too pricey. I used it on three TV's at my house, all flat screen dumb TVs - never an issue. Almost instantaneous responsiveness, numbered channels that made it easy to go directly to a specific channel with the remotes. It just worked and was fine. It hurt but I let it go.

Next I replaced all the TVs with new basic smart TVs. The largest - a Toshiba fire TV and the others - two basic Vizio's. If I knew now what I knew then, I never would've bought the Vizio''s.

I got Sling TV about 10 months ago. Man, as the headline says, it's been torture. Laggy, TV restarts, freezing, etc. I unknowingly blamed Sling service. I even posted on Reddit about my frustration with Sling - which wound up being misguided. A few guys flamed me up because I complained and said I was looking for another service, but no one ever said that the TV's were likely the issue. I found that out after I cancelled Sling TV and started DirecTV streaming service. IT'S WORSE!

DirecTV came bundled with Disney+, Hulu and HBO Max. I found that Disney, Hulu and HBO all perform pretty well as is. But I'm overall more of a live TV person so DirecTV is what I'd rather mostly watch, but it's so bad on the Vizio''s. That's how I realized the cheap Vizio's underpowered construction is to blame.

So, I slept and didn't grab some 4k Plus's when I had the chance a couple of months ago. I'm on the West Coast and the Plus and Pro are notoriously missing from these parts. I'm pulling my hair out with my TVs right now. Since I can't get the Plus or Pro right now (and I've been looking multiple times a day for a few weeks) or in the foreseeable future, should I just grab a regular $24 Onn Streaming Device or the new Stick (those they have a lot of at the local WM). We're not heavy streaming app users at my house, so something like the Pro (which I can't get anyway) is overkill.

I'd just rather not wait any longer, it's taking way too long for these devices to come out and watching TV is almost impossible for me right now
