Can't decide on a steakhouse -- Buca Lapi, I'Tuscani, Dall'Oste, Bisteccheria Santa Croce, other... Help choosing?
Never been to Italy, but we are visiting Florence soon and hoping for a great authentic steak night dinner. Currently feeling stuck on the options and hoping locals or those experienced can help me out. I am trying to balance two factors:
Our group really appreciates quality in technique and is not easily pleased with steak - in my experience it's been hard to find a place that really nails it, even among high end steakhouses. So craftsmanship that is near the top of the distribution curve is important.
Simultaneously, we are also here for more than just "steak" - the night is an experience to be in Florence, to feel the authenticity of Tuscany, and have a great environment to spend several hours in.
I am not sure exactly where to draw that line and I'm finding myself unable to decide. It is hard to sort out from such diverse online reviews, especially when things change with time (a 5-7 year old review may not represent the current quality or tone of a place today).
Anything clearly stand out here (or anything to avoid)? Any guidance is most appreciated!
