I am in a situation, and a bit confused. Basically, my parents are Orthodox, and they can be a bit intense.

I had said to my mother that I wanted to use tampons instead as I had been bleeding for a long time, and she really did not like that proposition.

She said that I am not allowed to, that it would go against the will of G-d, that I'm good with everything else and I don't behave like that, and then made it into a big thing with my father.

While I don't know halakha perfectly sometimes, I can admit that, I can't think of anything that forbids, or even discourages me from using them. I know about niddah and everything but I'm not married so it doesn't apply to me.

So basically, is there something I don't know about? And if not, are they just being weird?

My parents are Orthodox Jews, and currently have twelve children, which definitely surprises some people. Naming, both to them and our community, has always been important, and so there is a lot of meaning behind what they chose.

Because Orthodox Jews can sometimes be a little bit insular, you may not have heard of or seen some of these names very much.

Some of them are more unusual among our communities, and the reason for that is mostly their dedication to the pattern that they have began that is probably obvious to you. It has meant that they have used some more modern names, but that is also because they like them. Why they have been so dedicated to it, no one really knows, but it does amuse them.

I am happy to talk about any of these names, like where they come from, what they mean, if you do not know. And I hope that this is interesting to you 😊

Hello 😊

My parents are expecting a baby, who will be a girl. They've been naming in alphabetical order, and her letter will be M. I can also give the sibling names if that would make a difference?

This is actually a difficult letter but all together we came up with five names. Her middle names will be two of four, Tamar, Karni, Roni, and Ruth.

Masha

Meital

Meira

Margalit

Meirav

Thank you for any assistance ♥ Reasons being included would be the most helpful because then you understand why.

I have included the pronounciations and the meanings. Meaning is very important! But I think that they are all good. Although it is annoying there is no clear meaning of Miriam.

Masha (Mah-Shah) - Diminutive of the name Miriam

Meital (May-Tahl) - Dewdrop

Meira (Meh-Eer-Ah) - Giving light

Margalit (Mahr-Gah-Leet) - Pearl

Meirav (May-Rahv) - Abundant

Thank you for any assistance ♥ Reasons being included would be the most helpful because then you understand why.
