i don’t (to my knowledge) have or experience synestesia; when i have sex, i “feel” different colours and even feel and see items (strange example, reese’s cups). i often also, when experiencing these colours and shapes, feel far away ? and when it’s over i feel like i come back to where i was.

outside of the sexual side of things, i strongly associate feelings and smells with colours but i don’t believe that’s synesthesia, but based on my research, is it possible to only experience it during freaky time ?

for context i’m 18, FTM, and came out when i was fourteen using a preferred name and pronouns.
Due to family reasons, that didn’t last very long and i crawled back into hiding that part of me, until about 6 months ago, when i started using he / him pronouns again, while still keeping my birthname

i’ve always still wanted the same preferred name, and ive started using it online talking to online friends and is my name on a few social media accounts (i don’t have IRLS on)

i’ve never been happier in who i am, but im scared to start asking people, including my incredibly supportive partner (19, non-binary), to refer to me as my chosen name. because of this i feel like im shutting people i care about out of my life but im incredibly scared to start using that name, due to what happened previously.

thoughts ? similar experiences ?
TIA
