Does the first rain after a long heat feel different depending on where you are?

When I was in Vietnam and other parts of Southeast Asia, after the long hot season, everything felt like it was waiting.

The air would just sit there heavy, still almost like it was holding its breath.

And then the monsoon would come.

At first just a few drops… then the sound builds, the air cools, and suddenly everything feels lighter. The trees, the ground, even the silence changes.

It’s not just the smell (though that’s part of it)… it’s the whole feeling. Like the world finally lets go.

Does it feel different depending on where you’ve experienced rain?
