Thinking of applying to become a bartender but still a bit unsure
The owners of the restaurant are currently opening a new restaurant a block away and they’re hiring for all positions there. I’m currently a host and a backserver (aka drink runner) since my part time job at a local retail store usually steals my 3-8 PM or 4-8 pm shifts on fridays and saturdays. I’ve worked as a barista for ~5 years and as a back server for just over 1 but I’m a bit hesitant on applying to do the daytime/brunch bartending shifts. It looks like they’re already starting to train some people for positions at the new restaurant but I’m a bit nervous they’ll just throw me in with little to no training & yell when I get overwhelmed or stressed out (I’ve had other jobs do that). Would it be worth it to apply? I’m also 30 years old, is that too old to start as a bartender?
