For the non technical people, what is the proper way to back up immich? I’ve scoured the internet for an easy/common solution with no luck.

I’ve come to realize maybe there’s no right or wrong way to do this but I don’t want to find out the hard way. I want to reiterate I don’t have a technical background.

I’m running immich on ZimaOS. Everything looks good and it’s up and running fine, really happy with how it’s going. But now that I moved everything from iCloud to immich I want to back it up before I delete photos from iCloud. All the solutions I’ve found include using the CLI and I’m not at that level. I just want this initial backup and I’ll likely do it again quarterly.

Here’s what I did, tell him if this is wrong/bad idea. I copied the immich folder from my server (photo attached) that includes 6 subfolders. Backup holds the database and library holds the photos which seems to be the most important things.

Is there a better way to do this?

I’ll start off by saying I’ve read the many threads on here going over how to get photos on your immich server from iCloud. However, I can’t find a way other than the backup feature on iPhone immich app. Has anyone had any success doing something different while keeping the photos organized in their original albums?

I have followed the instructions flashing my usb drive via balenca etcher. Everytime I try to install it I get this and it halts the install. I updated my bios. Has anyone had this issue? Any ideas how to fix this?

Im not as smart as most of you guys so please bare with me.

I want to create a makeshift server/NAS with this old mini pc I have lying around. It’s running windows 11 and I wanted to overlay something within windows to give me what I’m looking for. I landed on installing Ubuntu and then running Casa OS. Seems like that’s no longer supported and the new guy in town is Zima OS (seems to be by the same creators of Casa)

My question is, would my installation and setup route still be the same? Ubuntu and then install Zima? Or is it completely different of a product that I need to go back to the drawing board.

Again I have very little technical skills (even though I’m a sales rep for a NAS company ironically) so I’m trying to take the easiest route. I’m going to start off by using immich and home assistant so nothing crazy.
