Should I make different prints for a book and for an exhibition?

I'm working on a project which may end up as a book. I don't want to publish digitised negatives made for social media, they must be proper darkroom prints. So I have a lot of printing work ahead. At the moment I print as if I was preparing an exhibition, 24x30.5 cm and relatively high contrast. I have no experience with publishing and I don't know how everything may end up looking in a book format in terms of tonal reproduction. Also 24x30.5 is not well suited for a flatbed scanner so I plan to use the same Fuji X-E1 camera as I use for negatives for digitising of these prints.

It took me time to figure out how to identify sides on this double LP

It's the position of the horizontal light stripe

Do you make contact sheets?

By the time I get to the darkroom I always already have digital copies so I use them as a reference. Do you still make them?
