Fishing for fun is cruel and there's something wrong with you

I get it, you're sitting still, enjoying nature, it can be all about mindfulness. You can test different baits and collect fishing rods, sounds fun I guess. But then you pull this fish out of water, watch the suffering and...are you okay?

Fishing for food is a bit of a different discussion but catch-and-release? That's a whole another level of cruel. I see them pulling the poor fish out of water and the animal is hanging with all its weight from a freshly made hole in its lip. Then it hits the ground, rubs against the reeds, you pick it up, remove the hook, and kindly toss it back into the water. The act of throwing it in must be painful. It would be torture for a land animal, and let’s add to that the inability to breathe, the wiping away of the protective mucus on their bodies, or the fact that they’re more sensitive to such impacts because they don’t happen underwater.

How can this relax you? It makes me sick to my stomach when I see this happening. How is this fun at all? Do you have any mercy or emphaty? Why do you think you're so entitled that your questionable entertainment is important enough to cause any suffering of an innocent being while you have hundreds of other ways to spend your free time that don't include hurting an animal?
