Macbook Neo

When I started school I opted for a chromebook (HP chromebook x360 model 14a) because i’m not tech savvy, and i prefer a super simple interface and operating system. However i’ve now learned this was not a good choice as chromebook operates on a mobile operating system and cannot support many of the accessibility features/apps I need and is also very slow and laggy when doing research.

They have no come out with the macbook neo which to my understanding is similar to a chromebook but actually operates on macOS not a mobile OS. Will I run into the same problems I’m having now? I need to be able to download online programs, run up to 10ish tabs at a time (on the chromebook anytime I have tabs with ads so like a news website my whole computer stalls or crashes). I do a lot of research so I want to be able to toggle between tabs without lag.
I also need to be able to use all google apps smoothly (drive, docs etc) as all of my school stuff is now in google and i’m not switching it over to icloud.

Looking for suggestions on where to start

Trying to help get my dad over to the island (anywhere from Vic-qualicum) as he is at risk of facing homelessness in the future. He is currently on disability after receiving 2 life changing, long term diagnosis. His mental health is declining as he used to be a very active, hands on person and I believe getting him here will be pivotal for his future (he wants to come). He’s pretty stubborn and has a hard time with online stuff outside of casual browsing but he’s committed to trying whatever to try and get here. I’d like to try and connect him with a social service worker or organization who can assist him in taking the necessary steps to get himself set up here and is willing to talk over the phone. Long term plan is to get him into BC housing but they’ve already told us they don’t really even look at applications from outside of the city someone is applying for. He currently lives remote in a trailer in southern BC. We can get his trailer here for a few months to qualify for BC housing if that’s his only option but i’d like to hear more from someone who knows the systems out here as his ability to maintain trailer life is dwindling. Going to service BC is probably my best place to start but i’m a very busy person and was hoping I could just start with firing off some emails to try and get him connected. I’d be nice too if eventually there was a program that could assist him with getting the physical therapy and counselling he needs to improve his wellbeing but can’t afford. He’s also going to need a doctor and I know how impossible that is here but perhaps there are priorities for people with chronic illnesses?

I have 3 medify m15 purifiers throughout my home who all desperately need their filters replaced. When I first used them they came with the branded genuine filters and seemed to work pretty well. I still found cooking smells lingered and some dust but don’t have one directly in my kitchen and two hairy dogs. I bought off brand filter replacements from amazon the second time around and honestly can’t tell if it was a huge difference or not but because these filters are really bad now I can tell they’re not doing much.
So is it really worth the extra $ to get the genuine filters or will the off brands suffice? Main concerns are dust and pet hair staying on surfaces.
I’ve read that some brands like honeywell for example actually have a noticeable difference between OEM and off brand but i’m not sure where medify stands.

*edit - the bot mod is prompting me to follow rule four and include a bunch of information about my rooms, location etc but i’m just looking for answers about filter quality not the actual purifier itself and genuinely have no idea the sizes of my rooms etc
