New "Community Guidelines/Standards" and New Account Creation Troubles
I dropped my own Facebook account 5 years ago after using it for 15 years. I can't stand the product.
HOWEVER, my 80-year-old mother in the United States and my almost 80-year-old uncle in Poland would like to communicate. He likes Messenger. He knows how to use Messenger. We all know how difficult it is to teach octogenarians how to use new technology. I was already not looking forward to teaching my mother how to use Messenger.
Poland has recently discontinued landlines country-wide (as they should). I had my mom set up with Google Voice to call her brother for pennies per minute.
Anyway, my mother has never had a Facebook account. I've been trying to set her up with one for the sole purpose of voice calling her brother. Both accounts have worked for 10 minutes and then Meta decides they go against Community Guidelines and have been disabled. I've uploaded selfies of my mother, etc. for the appeal to no avail. Both appeals have been denied.
What's the deal? I get trying to combat bots and bad actors, but how the heck do you make an account now?
