Flight from Atlanta to Darwin - advice re baggage
I've booked my daughter a flight with American Airlines. Long flight Atlanta > LAX > Sydney > Darwin. All on the one ticket booked via American Airlines site.
She's finishing up at College after 5 years and will be paying for an extra checked bag over the 1 included. Plus a dufflebag for her gear for competition in Darwin that she will take on American as carry on.
Obviously she will need to collect bags at Sydney and she has about a 12 hour layover so is intending to drop her 2 large checked bags with her grandparents, do some training and then come back that night with just the dufflebag.
In America in this situation she would just keep the dufflebag as carry-on but this leg is with Jetstar. I haven't flown with them for years but I remember they had really restrictive carry-on restrictions. Will that still be the case when you are booked via American? If she has to check her duffle will she be able to get it re-tagged in Sydney?
Edit: Just to update what it says on the ticket re baggage:

EDIT 2:
Good old AI to the rescue. Asked perplexity and gave it the ticket and it advised me to use the jetstar confirmation number to check (I hadn't even noticed that). She is entitled to a 32kg checked bag to Darwin.
Thanks all for your help.
