Spicebomb Extreme performance issue or just me? (Kanyakumari humidity)

So three months back, my friend bought me a Spicebomb Extreme from the UK. It was a complete blind buy. I liked the DNA on paper. I wanted something spicy and masculine, and I just assumed it would suit me and went ahead with it.

From what I can tell, it’s a 2023 batch. I’ve checked the batch code as well.

Now the thing is, Spicebomb Extreme is always hyped as a “beast mode” perfume in the fragrance community. When I received it, it wasn’t peak winter, but around January when winter was settling down, slightly cool weather, not extreme heat.

I tried it one evening and went with around six sprays. I had read that even four sprays can be a bit harsh, but I still pushed it to six expecting better longevity and projection.

But honestly, the performance was very average.

So I started checking reviews, and I’m seeing mixed opinions, especially people saying recent batches have performance issues. That made me question my bottle, but since mine is a 2023 batch, I’m not sure if that’s really the issue.

I’ve used it multiple times over the past three months in different situations, including air-conditioned environments, and the performance still feels underwhelming.

Initially, I thought I was going nose blind, but I asked friends around me, and even they couldn’t smell it properly unless they were very close.

For context, I’m based in Kanyakumari, so humidity is a big factor here. I’ve heard that heavier perfumes don’t perform the same way in humid climates, so I’m wondering if that’s affecting it.

At this point, I’m confused:

•	Is this a batch issue?

•	Is it just how Spicebomb Extreme performs now?

•	Or is it my climate and skin chemistry?

Has anyone else in India faced similar performance issues with Spicebomb Extreme or other perfumes?

From daily wear to headache: what happened to Nautica Voyage?

My fragrance journey started with fresh scents. First Skinn Raw, then Nautica Voyage. I remember seeing all the mixed reviews about Voyage, people calling it “salty cucumber” or even the worst smelling freshie. But when I tried it, I genuinely loved it. I used it everywhere, daily wear, and I even recommended it to a lot of people.

Then I slowly started exploring more. Picked up Jaguar Classic Black for daily use and liked it a lot. Later moved to richer stuff like Dolce & Gabbana The One EDP and Atkinsons Oud Save The King. That’s where things started changing.

Now suddenly I just can’t stand Voyage. The same scent I used to defend now feels sharp, salty, almost irritating, and sometimes it even gives me a headache. What’s confusing is this shift happened around the same time summer kicked in here. The humidity is crazy right now, and I’m starting to feel like the weather is actually changing how it smells on me.

From what I understand, heat and humidity can push certain notes more, especially watery, green, aquatic ones, and that fresh vibe can turn into something salty or sour. At the same time, after using smoother, richer blends, maybe my nose just isn’t tolerating that synthetic freshness anymore.

So now I’m stuck with two doubts:

Does this happen to everyone as they explore more perfumes?

Or is this mainly a seasonal thing and Voyage might actually smell good again later?

Also, what do you guys do with full bottles when you suddenly hate a fragrance DNA? Gifting is fine, but it feels like losing money every time.

Curious if anyone else had this kind of switch with Voyage or any fragrance in general.
