Shortly I'll be in the market to buy an ebike. But during my research, I've noticed that there is a real lack of stock of ebikes. Particularly in the local bricks and mortar shops, with the specs I want/need and in my price range.
So, do the bike shops get stock all at once or in dribs and drabs? Do I hold off, or do I get my finance ready, keep an eye out and then pounce when a suitable bike comes up?

I'm seriously thinking of buying an e-bike and currently doing loads of research. The plan is to ride recreationally at first, but I eventually plan to commute into the cbd, at least part way.
My (first of many) question, before parting with a fairly significant amount of money... did anyone hire an ebike for 1 or 2 weeks before buying to see if it was something that suits them? If so, what was your experience, and where did you go (I'm in North Brisbane)? I'm 100% certain this is what I want. I've been thinking about buying an ebike for a good while now. But I think my husband would prefer I rent first.
A very quick background on me, if it's relevant.... I'm a 53yo woman (not quite sure how that happened, but anyway), and I'm quite fit, so I'm not starting from a place where I need to build fitness or anything.
