10 years. 10 wonderful years.

I do think there is a future for Battleborn. Now what that future is and what it looks like we'll we will have to wait and see. But I do think there is one.

So first thing I want to say is I am making this most partially because it is Battleborn's 10th anniversary today. But also I do actually believe it.

First reason, Battleborn coined the term hero shooter. Yeah most folks don't know this but yeah Battleborn is where we get that from. Funny because many folks don't even consider Battleborn a hero shooter.

Second I feel every Hero Shooter that has come out since has well somewhat tried to be Battleborn. Overwatch 2 is the funniest example, a lot of the things they promised for OW2 (but never delivered) were actually in Battleborn.

Another basic example. Deadlock is basically Battleborn done again. Like the two games are similar to the point I would be surprised if Valve did take inspiration from Gearbox, the two companies have had a close relationship in the past.

Third and the sad reason. Battleborn was the first example of hero shooter failing, yeah Concord and Highguard owe this to battleborn. Except Battleborn lasted 5 years while hero shooters barely last a year now with some exceptions. Meaning Battleborn is surprisingly one of the longest lasting hero shooters.

This list is mostly for good fun but I do stand by my opinion that Battleborn's influence on the genre of fps is a lot more then people would honestly suspect.

To the point I would not be surprised if Battleborn becomes the favourite game of the person who made your favourite game type situation. If you get me.
