Mailbox has been on my radar ever since it was made official that Google is letting Gemini read my Gmail emails. So I visited the Mailbox subreddit, expecting to see questions from people who haven't paid yet but are considering it, bar that one last question. But all I saw was a lot of people complaining.

Initially that put me off but now I'm thinking maybe it's a survivorship bias thing, where people who don't have anything to complain about don't go to the subreddit.

So any good experiences from the crowd here?

Going to keep this fairly vague. Also apologies if this isn't a good place to ask, couldn't think of a better one.

Got hired by a company that wanted to complete checks through fit2work, most look good (and I wasn't expecting them not to), it's just my AFP check got "referred for manual processing".

Mum says this might be because Dad put me and my siblings on an airport watch list when I was a child to prevent us from going to Mum's country for her family member's funeral (yes he was a bad dad), he ended up losing parental rights when I was a teenager (lots of evidence of family violence) and I was taken off the list before I turned 18. Mum did comply the whole time the order was in place, however, and I did not leave the country until I had been taken off that list.

However, Mum reckons that would be a reason the AFP might care who I am, but I'll be okay once they see it was just that (and I'm an adult now so even if the order never got revoked it'd be long gone by now anyway). Is she right, or do I have something else to worry about here?

I've never been charged with anything anywhere, closest I got was when some state-level cops came to my school to talk to me about vandalism (I was like 14) because I'd been identified as having committed it, but that's the closest run-in I've ever had with the law. So I really can't think of any other reason this would happen.

My name's also pretty rare so I doubt they're confusing me for a wanted person with a similar name. So really other than the airport thing from when I was a child, I cannot think of any other reason the AFP would have my name on their books. But that seems like such a stupid reason to write an adult up... I dunno.

Anyone have any thoughts?
