Quick Thai Basil Beef

This is my quick version of Thai basil beef! You can serve over rice with a fried egg on top. It’s simple, filling, and great for an easy weeknight meal.

**Ingredients**

- 1 lb ground beef

- 2 shallots or 1 small onion, chopped

- 4–5 cloves garlic, minced

- 1 tsp ginger, minced or powder (optional)

- 1 tbsp brown sugar

- 1 tbsp fish sauce

- 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce

- 1 1/2 tbsp oyster sauce

- 2–3 tbsp chili paste (Lao Gan Ma can be used)

- 1 1/2 cups basil leaves (more the better for me 😂)

- Green onions, for garnish

- Rice, for serving

- Fried egg, (optional but highly recommended)

How I made it

  1. Cooked the ground beef in a hot pan until browned.

  2. Added the shallots, garlic, and ginger, then sautéed until fragrant.

  3. Mixed in the sauce ingredients.

  4. Stirred in the basil at the end.

  5. Served it over rice and topped it with a fried egg.

It’s fast, flavorful, and perfect when I want something easy but still really good.
