x52 pro stick, thrustmaster 16000 throttle woes

The first thing that surprised me was how the stick is really wobbly. I don't think it's defective, it is 24 years old but never used. As if it's a design choice? I tried a 6mm ring spacer and it goes TING at the edge of the axes. Should I try a 5 or perhaps 4mm?

And my thrustmaster throttle is modded. I got it despite this because it was cheap. It doesn't feel the same as other throttles, have you ever used a manual credit card authorization form? It moves a lot like that, it's very "slidey" with no pushback. Such as the x52 throttle, the TM hotas ones... it feels odd and like a downgrade, not a mod that someone would want.

Good, very lightweight/basic sim for testing joysticks?

I have a ton of them here but I don't want to bind buttons etc for a full-on game, just something really simple (Better than device manager, a little more complex than the google earth flight simulator). Any suggestions?

3070 to 5080 when I'm always 99% gpu bound on a 5600x, is the cpu going to still matter? I've just got into gaming at 7680x1440 but mostly run at 4k.
