I dont know if this is healing?

Hey everyone, looking for some insight on a stubborn extraction site (upper pre-molar). This has been a long process and I'm confused about the "smell vs. pain" situation I’m in.

The Timeline:

April 9: Original extraction (Upper Pre-molar).

April 12: Developed Dry Socket. Dentist did "pinadugo" (scraped the bone to restart the clot), used a collagen sponge, and stitched it.

April 15: Started feeling like it was happening again (throbbing and a "peeking hole" in the stitches).

April 18 (Today): I am now 6 days post-scraping/treatment.

The Current Symptoms:

  1. The Smell: It is ROTTEN. If I blow air from that side or move my mouth, it’s a pungent, foul odor. My breath feels terrible.

  2. The Pain: Surprisingly low. It’s a 2/10. I’m not even taking Mefenamic today.

  3. The Sight: The stitches never closed the gap. There is a visible hole/gap. The stitches look loose and have white/yellow "gunk" (debris) stuck to them.

  4. The Taste/Debris: I have a constant salty taste. I’ve also noticed small, dark particles/flakes coming out of the hole onto my tongue.

My Questions:

• If it’s not hurting much (2/10), why does it smell like something is rotting? Is it possible to have an infection without intense pain?

• Are the dark particles just the old sponge/clot being pushed out by healing?

• Does the "salty taste" mean there is pus, or is that just healing fluid/serous drainage?

I’m seeing my dentist tomorrow (Sunday), but I’m anxious about why the smell is so bad if the pain is finally low. Thanks for any advice!

Recurring Dry Socket? Upper Pre-molar extraction smells ROTTEN on Day 6 (post-treatment), but pain is only 2/10. Is this normal?
