We all love the remakes, but the originals shouldn’t be left behind.

Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, and Code Veronica are what defined survival horror for a lot of us.

Now, if you want to own them physically, you’re mostly stuck with high collector prices.

It’d be great to see the original versions brought back in a simple collection—just preserved and playable again on modern systems.

Parasite Eve - Square Enix - PlayStation

I’ve been thinking a lot about how difficult it’s become to go back and play older horror games the way they were originally meant to be experienced.

Parasite Eve is one of those titles that defined what psychological horror could be. It wasn’t just about enemies or jump scares—it was about atmosphere, isolation, and that constant feeling of unease.

What stands out to me now isn’t just the game itself, but how limited access has become. If you didn’t hold onto a copy back then, your options today are pretty restricted—and often expensive.

It’s strange to think that something so influential is now mostly experienced through videos, emulation, or secondhand markets.

There’s also something about the original format that’s hard to replace. Playing it on its original hardware, with that specific visual style and pacing, created a kind of immersion that’s different from modern releases.

I know the series is still alive in different ways, but the original game feels like it’s slowly becoming less accessible to people who want to experience it firsthand.

It would be great to see older titles like this preserved in a way that keeps them available and easy to access, whether that’s through modern platforms or new physical releases.

For anyone who’s tried revisiting it recently—how did you manage to play it?

Horror fans know the truth.

Silent Hill shouldn’t cost hundreds of dollars just to experience.

These games shaped survival horror—but today they’re locked behind collector prices and limited access.

Growing up, this was one of those games that stayed with you. The atmosphere, the sound design, the feeling of being completely alone—it was different from anything else at the time. It wasn’t just about gameplay, it was about how it made you feel.

Back then, owning the physical copy meant something. Opening the case, seeing the artwork, holding it in your hands—that was part of the experience.

Now it feels like that experience is slowly becoming harder to reach.

Most people either can’t find it, or have to pay extremely high prices just to play the original version.

I know remakes exist and more are coming, but it would be great to see the original games properly preserved and made accessible again—whether digitally or even as a physical collection.

New players should be able to experience where it all started, and longtime fans shouldn’t feel like they missed their chance to hold onto something important.

Curious if anyone else here feels the same way about older horror games becoming harder to access.
