Remove front mudguard?
Why do some people remove the front mudguard?
Why do some people remove the front mudguard?
I’ve wild camped on foot, by bike, and camper, in UK and Europe.
I’m now going to try moto wild camping, practicing in the SW UK ahead of a planned longer trip to Morocco and beyond.
I’m more nervous about wild camping in the UK than Europe, probably because I’m from here.
I’m looking for tips on how to find a suitable wild camping area on the map near my destination, and a good stealth spot when I arrive, to setup bike, tent and tarp over both.
I don’t want to annoy anyone, be as low key as possible. I look for edges of woodland, bush or scrub, away from urban areas.
Not sure if Park4night is a useful app in this regard?
I’m planning a long distance mixed environments overland trip in Aug on my F650GS I just picked up - 23k miles, roadworthy.
It just needs a fork seal, and the speedo/tacho are not working (common apparently, lots of online fix suggestions but fix maybe not necessary as have iPhone GPS speed).
It has full crash bars (bottom not fitted in pic), recent brake work, well looked after.
Should I fit the front mudguard?
Should I replace plastic bark busters with stronger metal ones to protect levers if I dump it in the middle of Africa?
Any other essential mods or prep before departure?
TIA
The Vango Scafell 300 Plus is 150GBP and meets my requirements: inner tent length, side entrance, large vestibule.
It is for moto camping.
Is there a lighter alternative with side entrance, under 250GBP?
I am planning a Europe and Africa long tour on my F650GS Dakar.
I am nearly 2m tall.
I have an old Vango Tempest 200 - with bedding I touch the end walls and find the inner tent and porch a bit small. It weighs 2.85kg.
What would be a good upgrade for more room without much extra weight, under 200GBP?
I plan to setup tent in parallel with the bike, 3.5 x 3.5 tarp over both with a space between to sit/cook.
I’m considering training with this company, as it’s modular.
I have minimal electrical experience other than doing my own properties, working on and off for builders years ago, and employed for a year as a first fix carpenter. My current career is IT.
Can I skip stage one or will it give me a good foundation?
I’m 46 with a mortgage so don’t think an apprenticeship is suitable.
