ASA on Cryogrip Pro Frostbite?

Hey folks,

Recently noticed ABS was added to the list of supported materials for the Frostbite build plate. Given the chemical similarities, is ASA also compatible?

Hi folks,

I’m looking to add another beelink to my home server farm. I currently have an EQ14 I bought a while back that I like, but I suspect the landscape has changed. I’m not looking for high end or bottom barrel - I’m looking for what gives me the best performance per dollar. I plan to run plex plus other things on this server, so I’m guessing I still want an intel based unit for their igpu.

Thanks!

Hey folks,

I’m planning a new HA install and this is my first time in the ecosystem. I’m a software engineer so I’m pretty tech savvy. My house is a 4000sqft single level.

  1. Should I go with a Rpi 5? HA Green? Mini PC? HA Green looks easiest but also seems like the lowest hardware specs for the cost of the 3 options.
  2. How many Zigbee and z-wave antennas am I going to want given home size? I have POE drops throughout the house I can tie into as needed, though it would be nice to just have the 2 USB ones and call it a day.

Hey folks,

I'm currently finding myself very annoyed with the smart home stuff I have in my house and looking for suggestions about what to look at next. I was leaning towards homekit since it is easy for my family to use, we're already an apple household, but I'm worried about being able to support things like phoscon or gledopto controllers. I know that Home Assistant is way more flexible, but i'm concerned about the usability for my family. Ideally I'd love to have the simplicity of homekit with the flexibility of Home Assistant. I'm not interested in Google.

  • We have Alexa devices (which I don't love).
  • We have some lights controlled by Lutron Caseta switches/dimmers which have been excellent in terms of reliability.
  • We have a handful of smart lights and plugs from various manufacturers that have their own apps, some of which work with alexa and some of which are configured in their own apps. Things like TPLink/Kasa, generic bulbs requiring their own apps, govee, etc.
  • We recently added some Philips Hue bulbs in our theater room, and we rather like them.

I'm looking to standardize here. I am more than willing to throw away just about everything except for a few things:

  • Philips bulbs/switches since their lights are some of the best I don't want to completely avoid the ecosystem. I thought I'd be able to do all of my lighting with the hue bridge, but the first non hue product I tried to connect (Phoscon FLS-M Zigbee LED controller) won't connect.
  • Caseta dimmers - I don't want to have to replace these. They work well and its a lot more work for me to replace them than simply changing a light bulb.
  • Would be awesome if it supported my pentair pool panel. Alexa no longer does.

I liked the hue ecosystem for lighting, but the fact that im struggling to pair other manufacturer controllers with their hub is giving me some concerns. I love the scenes they have available in their app that can be simply set up and I was hoping to be able to extend that to some other non-hue LED strips (since theirs don't meet my needs).

Hi folks,

I am in the process of installing LED strips in the spaces between slats on acoustic panels in my theatre room. The spaces between slats is 12.5mm.

I am wanting RGBCCT lighting and I want to use a silicone diffusers tube to protect and hide the LED strips. Given the width between slats, I’m stuck with 12/13mm wide silicone diffusers and therefore 10mm max strip width.

I also want tight integration with my Philips hue hub over Zigbee.

The only strip I found that does what I want is this one from BTF: https://www.btf-lighting.com/collections/spi-rgbcct-led-strip

The challenge is that the BTF strip is SPI, and I can’t seem to find any SPI Zigbee Controllers for RGBCCT. I can find RGB and RGBW, but not a controller with RGB and tunable white.

My understanding is that the strip above uses dual WS2811 chips to simulate a WS2805 - and I can’t even seem to find any SPI controllers for that either.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My mother-in-law found this at an antique store up in Heber and she got it for my son. The rattle actually rattles!

Thought it was cool, so I figured I would share it.
