I'll preface this by saying about 75% of the interactions I've had with folks remote trading have been positive, which was better than I had expected for total strangers, anonymous online.
But I have been really disappointed with the other quarter.
The number of people who only select shiny legendaries of mine, and offer up nothing of relative value, is frustrating.
But what makes it worse is the fact that after a declined trade, they just refuse to engage again, or continue to insist on taking my shiny deoxys in exchange for some silly cosmetic novelty pokemon.
It's amusing to image these people IRL: entitled and, well, stupid.
This game really needs some way to communicate with other trainers with whom you're at max-value friendship.
This process takes months of incremental work. It's really sad when you get to the finish line, only to see that your reciprocal partner is a complete shit head.
All that being said, I will say it has been so cool to see other folks' collections. I play this game as a dad spending a lot of time smiling and nodding in parks. I have no perspective on how other people cultivate and maintain their inventories. It's a really fun snapshot into people's lives, looking at what they've got. This mechanic has been so rewarding and positive, ultimately.
Except for you fuckers, who are probably also cutting me off in traffic.
Edit: people are sperging out about deoxys as an example. It was an arbitray placeholder that I wrote out rhetorically because i figured the exact example didnt matter, and it was what came to mind. I guess the actual factual real examples I have are shiny giratina and shiny zacian. If you think this is "karma farming" i.e. I made up having a shiny legendary, you are too stupid to warrant having access to the internet.
