How to force/enable 144Hz on Xiaomi Pad 7

I recently picked up the Xiaomi Pad 7 specifically for its 144Hz display to use as a dedicated local game streaming handheld. However, I’m having trouble ensuring the display actually runs at the full 144Hz while streaming, which is crucial for the latency benefits I'm looking for.

Despite the Xiaomi Pad 7 supporting up to 144Hz, the stream often feels like it's capped or defaulting to 60/120Hz only. I’ve adjusted the settings in the Artemis (Moonlight) app to 144fps, but I suspect HyperOS might be throttling the refresh rate or the app isn't triggering the high-refresh mode correctly.

What I've tried:

  • Manually selecting "up to 144Hz" in the Xiaomi display settings
  • Checking Sunshine/Apollo encoder settings to ensure the host is pushing 144fps.
  • Enabling Game Turbo

My Setup:

  • Host PC: Ryzen 9 5900X | RTX 5070 Ti 16GB.
  • Host Software: Sunshine (using the Apollo fork).
  • Client Device: Xiaomi Pad 7 (HyperOS 3).
  • Client Software: Moonlight (using the Artemis fork).
  • Network: Local 5GHz Wi-Fi (minimal network jitter).
