Have any of you been forced to give up on CGMs due to foreign body response?

I’m using Dexcom G7, and It appears I have developed an adverse immune response to the sensor’s filament.

As a result, my sensors will only work for ~3 days, before inflammation around the filament makes the readings unusable.

I’m interested if anyone here has had a similar experience, and whether they managed to find something that works for them?

So far I’ve only ever used Dexcom, and I’m not sure if the Libre’s would be any better.

Is it possible that I’m not physically compatible with CGMs?

I started on the G7 back in November 2025 following diagnosis. They worked great up until around beginning of March this year.

Since then, I’ve been unable to get more than five days out of any one G7.

The sensors will work great out of the box, but will begin to fall apart after the ~48 hour mark. Failures follow a remarkably-consistent pattern of: erratic readings that quickly progress to chronic under reading, before failing with either a ‘brief sensor issue’ for >3hrs, or an ‘LOW’ reading that will not budge.

Some fail earlier, some fail later, but the average time to failure is probably around 3 days.

I’ve noticed that I tend to have inflammation at the insertion site upon removal. In some cases there is visible pus at the site, despite using alcohol spray + an alcohol wipe before insertion.

I’m beginning to worry that my immune system basically precludes me from using CGMs, which is a terrifying thought, considering how much nicer life has been with a closed loop pump.
