[FIC REC] Is there any fanfic that focuses more on Jason's antagonist/villain side?
I like long fanfics, like... 100k+ words. And it would be great to find something like that where Jason’s role as an antagonist/villain and his antics are explored in depth as the central focus.
I just love the idea of a more “evil” Jason, doing questionable things and being a piece of shit, scheming and antagonizing Bruce, and Dick (...and Tim… and Damian...) with tons of tension and drama. It’s such a fun.
I do love Jason’s angst and his inner turmoil, but I feel like he’s often written in a way that’s too woobified because people can’t (or don’t want to) deal with a more twisted thing, twisted morality and its consequences so they shy away from it.
It’s like, is Jason a character who’s had a hard life and is deeply traumatized? YES. Is Jason a motherfucker bastard? YES, THAT TOO!
Those two things can coexist without taking away Jason’s responsibility, agency, or personality.
There are a lot of fics where Jason redeems himself and repents quickly, like the ones where he attacks Tim at the Titans Tower, and instantly he’s like, “Oh no! My tiny little brother!” and Batman or Nightwing shows up and everyone’s like, “Oh, Jason! You’re alive! Come home! We love you!” and Jason’s like, “Oh, they do LOVE ME!! so I was wrong and this was all a mistake! I’ll come back home!!”
Those are cool, but they’re not what I’m looking for
