Kid at Plato's

I dropped my girlfriend off at Plato’s Closet in Burlington today. While she was in line for checkout, a young child (maybe 4 or 5 years old) started repeatedly calling her a "robber" and a "stealer."
My girlfriend is non-white and was likely the only person of colour in the store at the time. What makes this worse is that the parents were right there and dint bother to correct the kid or say a word. After this went on for several minutes, my girlfriend finally looked at the child and said she hoped she would grow up to be intelligent enough to actually learn about history and culture.
She’s handling it fine, but Im honestly disgusted. A kid that age doesn't just come up with that. They are mirroring what they hear at home.
We’re from Brantford, and I’m genuinely shocked. The butlington Im used to has always been great and was more multicultural and "educated," but this was a blatant reality check. Is this how it is in the city now?
