Reminder that CS can filter your messages for text

Haven't shared it here yet, but a few years ago, when couchers.org was new I mentioned it in a message to a guy who surfed my place a few days earlier and my profile was immediately shut down. As in sending the message and getting 404 the next second. Fortunately, I got access back after a complaint (my hopes were pretty low, actually) within 48 hours.

Not sure if it works like this in the new version, but I guess CS doesn't have many reasons to not keep it this way.

Stay safe and f*ck CouchSurfing (the website, not looking at you couchers.org )

Traditions are traditions!

Yep, it's been 13 years that I have been using Anki almost daily, which is more than 33 % of my life time already. Since statistics in old and new Anki and heat map addon are a bit off I can't say when my last day without reviews was, but it was more than a decade ago. Yep, I am on a 3000+ days streak. Statistics will say I missed 10 days when in reality it was merely 5 or 6, some days got maked without reviews because I was switching time zones.

What happened since last Anikversary? Well, I tried FSRS but it worked terribly for my deck and review habits so I switched back after a few months and had to take another few months to go back to where I started (long story short: FSRS made intervals shorter instead of longer, even on notes I had a big streak on, can't recommend, unfortunately, even though the creators/supporters have been very responsive to my issues).

I didn't learn much new stuff, but I crammed almost 2k of Latin vocabulary (I learned Latin at school but I forgot almost all of it).

I had a hard time personally in life around December/January when I just did a dozen reviews every day for almost 2 weeks. Had a backlog of several thousand cards that took me at least a week to get back to where I was. This was the darkest time of my Anki carreer so far.

I tried to apply monolingual learning in some of my decks, you can read about my experiences here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Anki/comments/1o9ui6t/the_ongoing_experiment_of_monolingual_learning/

I start this AMA with FAQs:

When do you do your reviews?

I do some parts in the first hours of the day and usually finish in the last hours. I rarely do it in sequence and sometimes I am lazy and do everything just right before I sleep.

What do you learn?

I started Anki learning languages (actually started with Russian) with my largest deck being English (I was able to read Tale of Two Cities as a non-native speaker with barely looking up any words). I also have big decks of Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, Swedish and smaller decks of Dutch, Korean, Latin, Modern Hebrew, Lower German and Russian. Chinese and Japanese are the hardest for me. Both combined take up roughly 1/2rd of daily reviews.

I also learned the geography mega deck, famous music pieces and their composers, my favourite poem, pieces of art and lots of trivia about natural science and humanities. This year I learned the articles of the German constitution.

Fun facts

The first card I learned was не́мец - the German (man)

The card with most lapses (86) and reviews (469) ㅙ - Korean characters of "wae" has a new champion this year: ㅚ (88 lapses but only 442 reviews in total)

my highest ease is 400% (Map of the state of "Sachsen-Anhalt" (German geography).

Latest due will be the translation of "pasar la aspiradora" on June, 5th 2102. Let's see if I'm stil alive by then!

Well, I read several times we should report bugs there, but tbh, I don't feel very motivated considering two bugs on top of their priority list have been there since January for at least 3 full months. Many other bugs are very low in priority queue.

What I get from this? Why report if my issue (not even talking about feature suggestings, just blatant bugs) if it will probably not find enough upvotes and if it will, it will be fixed in maybe 6 months from now while developers count their money for DLC releases?

meh
