Shiplap wall/ Panel walls- First time DYI

Looking to renovate our attic office. The walls are in pretty wild state (the previous owners had it painted with chalk, blue, white). I want to make it calm so was thinking of shiplap walls. Would appreciate any guidance on it:

  1. Do i need to spend effort painting and sanding and prepping the wall before adding the panels?
  2. From your experience - will putting it on ceiling and walls - will it feel too much? will putting it on walls only be better?
  3. Is there an economical option for real wood, or at least HDF option (trying to not use MDF due to potential formaldehyde).

Thanks!

Help with pain colors

This is my office (attic). I want it very airy and light but cozy.

Was thinking white walls. But not sure what I should do with the slanted ceiling and the cabinets.

Also what white? There are sooo many.

(Wallpaper is also an option)

(Sorry for the mess)

Thank you!

Did anyone experience radiation from hardwood floors?

Curious about wood chips ming from contaminated areas. Apparently FCS doesn't address radioactivity in wood.

Curious if others have had a similar experience.

On our recent Royal Caribbean cruise, most of the water slides that my kids could use were not working. The water park was a key reason we booked this sailing.

We reached out to Royal Caribbean to request compensation, and they offered $20 per child (total $40). Given the total cruise cost was over $5,500, this felt insulting.

Has anyone else dealt with something similar?
What kind of compensation, if any, were you offered in comparable situations?

Any advice on how to escalate or whether it’s even worth pursuing further would be appreciated.
