On approved medical leave, under treatment, still asking to report to duty!! Sometimes forgetting that a doctor is a patient too..
I’m a doctor on prior approved leave, currently undergoing treatment.
Despite informing my workplace clearly, I’ve now been officially instructed to attend a meeting.
This is not just inappropriate.
it directly undermines my recovery and raises serious concerns about employee rights.
I need a legal clarity:
• Is this even lawful in India?
• Can employers mandate participation in work activities during prior approved leave?
• What’s the safest way to push back without facing retaliation?
Can the employer compel one to return to work despite valid medical certification?
What steps to take to protect oneself from undue pressure or possible repercussions?
