Hybrid Flooring Fail

My parents have done some minor renovations including hybrid flooring. I told them many times about 3mm over 3m, not caulking skirting etc. They simply did not listen and went ahead with it anyway (unbeknownst to me).

The installer laid straight over the existing mix of floor boards (hardwood lol) & tiles with no subfloor prep. He came back and screwed some of the hybrid planks down that were bouncing to the existing floor, he also caulked all skirting, kitchen etc when he came back to do this.

The floor is bouncing and cracking in multiple spots.

Are they liable to be refunded by this floorer who obviously had no clue what he was doing?

I feel bad telling them “I told you so” but they spent a lot on this and it needs to be ripped up.
