Having different culture foods has helped my empathy (kinda not joking)
Growing up, my family was always kinda stuck in routine. Cyciking the same set of dinners and restaurants usual orders. But recently I’ve been challenging myself to try new cuisine or atlas’s different orders at restaurants I go to and it’s genuinely made me a better person. Like I had never had Chinese food or sushi but now I actively look forward to it. It’s helped me connect with and understand other people and become more empathetic. For example I used to have quite a negative perception of my South Asian heritage due to normalized derogatory association. But exploring my cultural pallet has made me actually be proud to be where I’m from. If you’re from Toronto you have no excuse (besides finances) to shame other cultures!
