Sorry for formatting, I'm on mobile. I'm having issues trying to find sandals that fit me properly - I normally wear a US 8.5 (39 in birkenstocks) and fit my size 9 boots (1040's) fine. I was told to size down for sandals, so these are size 8 808's. I think they'd fit okay if the top pieces didn't feel so loose and let my foot slip forward. You can see my toe getting scuffed from slipping out in the second picture. I know pointing hard helps, but I don't feel like that's enough to not smack my toes. I want a pair with the clear straps, but am worried those straps will loosen even more and I'll get back to where I'm at now.
