Found in my basement while I was decluttering. It fell from the ceiling and scared me lol. In Ontario, Canada
I am a Canadian citizen and my boyfriend is from the USA.
He's been here living with me since January 7th and we want to extend his visitor record to be 8 months longer, until March 7th 2027, so we have lots of time to file a common-law sponsorship in January 2027.
Has anyone else done something similar to this? I have tons of financial proof that I can fully support him and we are living together under my mom's roof as a family so even more support. I also have tons of proof of our relationship being genuine dating back to 2023. Do I even need to include this in the letter of explanation?
I'm worried because I see some people get refused an extension because they have "dual intent". But i have no other way to sponsor him or live together.
I'm working on multiple explanation letters explaining our situation, and that we plan to propose on a special vacation together which is why we prefer common-law, and don't want a courthouse marriage just for immigration.
Any advice?
