What is going on with EBTH’s lab diamond sales? 🧐
Has anyone else noticed weird stuff going on in the lab diamond auctions on EBTH lately?
I’ve casually followed their lab diamond auctions for a few years. Lately it just seems odd.
A few observations:
(1) There has been an absolute influx of this style of ring in the last two months. From what I can tell, the first ones were posted in mid-February, and one has been sold almost daily since then.
Does anyone recognize these rings? Is EBTH liquidating someone’s inventory? Or is some seller just using it as a volume outlet?
(2) Speaking of a seller potentially using it as a volume outlet, there is one account that appears to me to be a **super obvious ghost bidder** bidding on these rings. I did a pretty thorough spot check. The account was active on every single one I checked, and the bidding behavior reeked of reserve-setting.
(3) The same bidder is also involved in a similar pattern of bidding on a lot of the other repetitive jewelry items. I’ve noticed it on stud earrings and bigger diamond rings, but I’m sure it’s on other things I’ve missed.
At this point I’m now checking almost nightly just to play a game of “spot the ghost” 👻👻👻 But it’s getting a little boring bc they don’t even change accounts.
