Suggestions for a Portugese friend trying to learn English in Exeter?
Hi, I'm currently hosting a Portugese guy (40M) as part of his months long English language course. He's doing it as English skills have become more and more of a nessecity for his job (real estate and development) when he goes back to Portugal.
He's due to be leaving my accomdation soon and onto somewhere else. Only because I could only comit a few weeks, otherwise I'd keep him here. Practicing his English at dinner time is a big part of his experience, on top of what he learns in his daily classes.
He does try to get out and about but it's difficult as his English is basic (maybe A1 level at best). At dinner with me we can stop least go slow and I can help him.
Does anybody have any advice please? Are there any portugese clubs or anything like that? The other students on his course are all Arab and Chinese which means he cant compare notes with somebody in his own native language. I will be meeting him for coffee occasionally to continue helping. I'd just love to be able to give him some suggestions to enrich his tome in wonderful England. Thank you.
