Voltage reducer

Not a power wheel per se but I converted a metal pedal car from Jets to electric using some “power wheels” motors (actually a kit) off of Amazon. It’s being powered by a 12 volt li-ion battery and it’s for my now 2yr old niece.

My dad thinks it’s too fast. I bought some voltage reducers off of amazon and already blew one adjusting the voltage while free wheeling

Do this motors require 12 volts or will anything under like say 9 volts, hurt them? And if not, anybody know of a good voltage switch/reducer that won’t blow up on me 😂

Pics for attention

2018 Hyundai Kona SE with the 2.0L NA motor. It’s on the thermostat housing but I cannot find what the sensor is separately.

Got a warning while my car was idling as I was talking to a friend. Temp gauge shows needle at red line. Car drove fine on the freeway. Don’t live over 1/2. Started moving once parked and just idling.

Coolant was on low level but not empty. Radiator cap wasn’t hot to the touch upper hose was but not overly hot like car had overheated hot

leaning on the temp sensor going bad. From what I can tell the temp sensor isn’t on the outlet so I’m wondering what the fuck Thag sensor is haha
